In June of 2014, just before my 38th birthday, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I underwent surgery, chemotherapy, recovery, and close follow-up before, in February 2017, hearing my doctor say it was time to remove my chemotherapy port and move on with my life. The people who rose up to cushion me during my illness changed everything; I promised to tell them the truth about how I was doing and what their support meant. The letters I wrote to that community are now available in the blog section of this website, Sara's Mile.
